NCSA hold seminar
NCSA highlighted requirements of newly approved Cyber Security Act.2023

National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) organized a seminar titled “Safe Internet Usage and Prevention of Cybercrime” on 07th December 2023 at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barisal.

The day-long seminar was organized by the National Cyber Security Agency, Information and Communication Technology Department in collaboration with the medical college authorities.

CIRT identified 153 publicly exposed FortiGate devices in Bangladesh

The seminar was attended by Professor Dr. Md. Azizul Haque of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital as the chief guest and chaired by Prof. Dr. GM Nazimul Haque, Vice-Principal, Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Mr. Abu Sayed Md. Kamruzzaman NDC, Director General of Digital Security Agency presented the main article in the seminar. Barisal University Computer Science and Engineering Department Assistant Professor Rashid Al Asif were present as a speaker.

The seminar titled “Safe Internet Use and Prevention of Cybercrime” was also attended by Sher-e-Bangla Medical College teachers, students, Barisal district ICT officials, NCSA officials and journalists.

The chief guest of the seminar first thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister for setting up the National Cyber Security Agency in the discussion. He also advises everyone to be aware of various cyber risks and mobile scams.

The keynote presenter and director general of NCSA stressed the importance of cyber risk awareness for everyone to stay safe in cyberspace. He highlighted the requirements of the newly approved Cyber Security Act, 2023 and various aspects of cyber security to secure the country’s cyber space in cyber security.

He outlined the National Cyber Security Agency’s action plan to ensure cyber security. He also discussed various activities and future plans of the National Cyber Security Agency. He informed that the government is working tirelessly to ensure cyber security. He discussed the four pillars of building a Smart Bangladesh and outlined what should be done to make everyone a Smart Citizen.

Discussant of the seminar, Md. Rashid Al Asif highlighted the need for cyber security by mentioning the issue of cyber attacks on banks in Bangladesh. Besides, he highlighted the statistics of cybercrime happening in the country and abroad. He said, 51% of cybercrime is organized through phishing. He expressed the opinion that cyber security law was very necessary in the country.

The participants of the seminar presented various questions related to safe internet usage, cyber security, cyber crime prevention and cyber security laws. Keynote presenters, panelists and NCSA officials answered the questions. Finally, the seminar president thanked all present and announced the end of the seminar.
