Google Search Results Reportedly Show Claude AI Shared Chats

Claude’s share links from Anthropic showed up in public search results. This raised new privacy worries for users who shared private talks.

A Reddit post this weekend showed that many Claude AI chats could be found on Google. People searching for site:claude.ai/share could see talks about legal advice, engineering projects, and personal topics without needing links from the original users.

Claude’s share feature makes public links so users can share chats with others. A Reddit thread said those pages didn’t have the right noindex tags. When a link got shared online through forums, social media, or by mistake, search engines could find and index the whole chat content.

Exposed chats reportedly included:

Legal strategy discussions from lawyers
Technical troubleshooting and code from engineers
Personal and sensitive user conversations

By Sunday, Google results for the Claude share pages mostly vanished. This means they either got removed quickly after people noticed the flaw or Anthropic fixed it on their end. The company had not made a public statement when this was reported.

Security experts and users who care about privacy pointed out that being removed from search results does not mean old links are gone. Anyone who saved or bookmarked a shared URL can still open it unless Anthropic blocks access from their end.

Anthropic users are strongly advised to:

Review all active shared conversations in Claude settings
Delete any shares that are no longer needed
Avoid posting share links in public channels
Treat shared AI chats as potentially public by default

Until platforms reliably use noindex, login requirements, or temporary links, treat shared conversations like documents shared on the open web.
