The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been ranked second in the Global Cybersecurity Index in the World Competitiveness Yearbook for 2023. The index is compiled by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and assesses the cybersecurity capabilities of 63 economies around the world.
Saudi Arabia’s strong performance in the index was attributed to the development of a National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) and the planned development of a Global Cybersecurity Forum institute in the country. The NCA is responsible for protecting Saudi Arabia’s critical infrastructure and government networks from cyberattacks, while the Global Cybersecurity Forum institute will serve as a platform for international cooperation on cybersecurity issues.

In addition to its strong performance in the Global Cybersecurity Index, Saudi Arabia also ranked 17th overall in the World Competitiveness Yearbook. This is a significant improvement from its ranking of 24th in 2022. The Kingdom’s improved ranking is due in part to its efforts to improve its business environment and attract foreign investment.
Saudi Arabia’s strong performance in the global cybersecurity rankings is a testament to the country’s commitment to protecting its digital infrastructure. The NCA and the Global Cybersecurity Forum institute are just two examples of the steps that Saudi Arabia is taking to ensure that its cyberspace is safe and secure.
Here are some additional details that you can add to the passage:
- The NCA was established in 2017 and is responsible for developing and implementing the Kingdom’s national cybersecurity strategy.
- The Global Cybersecurity Forum institute is scheduled to be launched in 2024 and will be hosted by King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.
- The ITU’s Global Cyber Security Index is a comprehensive ranking of countries’ cybersecurity capabilities. It assesses countries on a number of factors, including their legal and regulatory frameworks, their technical infrastructure, and their human resources.
