As per Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), Prime Bank completed its DNSSEC propagation in the 1st week of October.

DNSSEC enhances the Domain Name System (DNS) by using cryptographic signatures to confirm DNS data authenticity. This protects users from fake websites, helps prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, and ensures secure connections to real Prime Bank online services.

Md. Mahbubul Alam Rafel, Head of Information Security Division, Prime Bank PLC, stated:

“As part of our continuous commitment to resilient banking and customer protection, we are proud to enable DNSSEC for our domain. In the modern private cloud-native ecosystem, DNS has become a critical component for mapping domain names to cloud resources. This increased dependency has led to more frequent cyberattacks such as DNS cache poisoning, tunneling, and DDoS. By enabling DNSSEC early, we are taking proactive measures to mitigate these risks and reinforce trust in our digital services.”

He further highlighted that in recent years, threat actors have increasingly exploited inherent DNS vulnerabilities and the expanded attack surfaces of cloud environments, resulting in risks such as data theft, service disruption, and malware propagation. Prime Bank’s DNSSEC implementation serves as a preventive measure to ensure continued resilience and readiness as the bank expands its cloud-native financial products and services.

Mr. Rafel also extended heartfelt appreciation to Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) for their extensive support in implementing DNSSEC, noting that this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing the nation’s digital security infrastructure.

This initiative underscores Prime Bank’s dedication to resilient, secure, and customer-centric banking, reaffirming its leadership role in adopting cutting-edge cybersecurity standards across the financial sector.
