Orange, a major French telecom company, announced on Monday that it was attacked by hackers. In the announcement, the company said that it detected a cyberattack “on one of its information systems” on July 25, and that it proceeded to “isolate potentially affected services and minimize any impact.”
Orange stated that isolating affected systems disrupted some of its platforms, business customers, and public sector services primarily in France. The announcement said that the solutions the company is implementing will gradually restore services by Wednesday, and that “there is no evidence to suggest that any internal or customer data has been exfiltrated.”

This incident highlights a worrying trend of cyberattacks on major telecom companies worldwide. The French telecommunications sector has faced increased scrutiny from cybersecurity agencies, with France’s ANSSI warning about state-sponsored threats targeting the country’s telecommunications infrastructure for espionage purposes.
