Election ads campaign on Meta, cost $45 thousands for 7 days

In the last seven days (December 27-January 2), about 45 thousand US dollars were spent on the election campaign on social media Facebook.

According to the data of Matter Ad Library, Bangladeshis have spent this dollar on advertising during the period from December 27 to January 2. These advertising dollars are not only spent by the candidates themselves, but also by their activist supporters.

According to Meta data, Jatiya Party co-chairman Salma Islam has spent the most in the last seven days. His expenses for 39 ads are about 5 thousand dollars. MA Razzak Khan, a member of Awami League’s finance and planning sub-committee, ranks second in the list of expenses. He spent about two thousand dollars for 76 Ads. Jatiya Party presidium member and party candidate for Jamalpur-2 constituency, Mustafa Al Mahmud, who came in third, spent more than $1,600.

Besides, Saber Hossain Chaudhuri spent 1444 dollars, 1341 dollars was spent on Campaign Advocacy Forum (CAP) and 1020 dollars was spent on Press Express name page.

In seven days, the first place in the list of expenses is Dhaka division, spending 27,984 dollars, the second place in the list is Chittagong, spending 7192 dollars, the third place is Khulna division, spending 3460 dollars, the fourth place in the list is Rajshahi division, spending 2162 dollars, the fifth place is Rangpur, spending 2001 dollars Sylhet Division, ranked sixth, spent $1,313 and Barisal Division, ranked seventh, spent $871.

Last month’s expense accounts were also available in the Mater Ad Library. During this period the total expenditure was 1 lakh 27 thousand dollars (1 crore 41 lakh taka).

Salma Islam topped the list with $6989 spent, Salman F Rahman spent $4958 and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed spent $4321 according to Meta add library for the last month.

During the same period $5868 was spent from Press Express and $4739 was spent from Minister Hi-Tech Park. According to the data, since September 2022, Meta has been reporting the revenue behind political ads in Bangladesh.
