Vote for DHAKA, Vote for ISACA at 6 July

ISACA Dhaka Chapter election is going to be held on Saturday (6 July) 2024. This year 23 candidates will fight each other for 13 posts. Dr. Ijazul Haque and Mohammed Iqbal Hossain will fight each other for the post of president on the other hand S M Mizanur Rahman and A N M Shakawath for vice resident.

Bangladesh Bank’s Fahad Zaman Chowdhury will have to face the current secretary of ISACA Md. Abul Kalam Azad for the post of Secretary. UCB’s Muhammed Abdullah Al Mamun will have to compete with Md. Sanowar Hossain for the post of treasurer.

For the post of Jt. Secretary Md. Sazzad Hossain and Shakil Mahmud are on the list, while Md. Mazharul Haque and Md. Monowar Hossain will fight for Director Communication.

Rashedul Islam and Quazi Shaklain are on the final list for Director CISM and Fahima Khanam and Dr. Nurullah Shahin will have to fight for Director IT Gov/COBIT. Ahmed Zafor Sadeq Bhuiyan and Mahbub UL Alam are to face for the post of Director At- large.

In the upcoming election, 4 candidates have automatically been elected as no candidates are on their opposition. They are MD. Morshed Alam for Director marketing, G M Faruk Ahmed for Director- Member, Md. Jahangir Alam for Director CISA and lastly Hasan AL monsur for director Academic relation.

Dr. Ijazul Haque said if I elected again “I will focus to promote students and create students chapters in different universities, to work with the ISACA head office, USA to reduce the registration/ renewal fees, participating with the policy makers, regulators and others professional bodies, to conduct CISA and other relevant trainings, to conduct CPEs jointly with other ISACA/ non ISACA chapters, to evolve each of the board members in chapter activities, ensuring publication of ISACA Dhaka chapter magazine/ journal which will help the members to publish their write up/articles.”

Mohammed Iqbal Hossain said, “the president leads chapter activities and efforts to ensure professional and personal growth for the membership. Being part of Dhaka chapter, he is obligated to see its more success for realization of the opportunities along with the ISACA members. Mr. Hossain believes Leading with Passion, Inspiring with Purpose, and Achieving with Togetherness.”

To building a Professional Knowledge Society Through Teamwork at ISACA, Partnering with Policymakers, Regulators, and other professional bodies working for a Trustworthy Digital Ecosystem, exploit full potential of board members to contribute as per By-Laws of the Chapter, to increase volunteer opportunities for the members in the different Groups and Committees, ensuring regular CPEs on contemporary issues with member participation (both online and offline) and arrange day-long workshop/seminar on relevant topics at least one per year, Strengthen training opportunities and publication to enhance the Chapter’s Revenue, Pursue Chapter registration to make it under a legal framework for increasing its value and impact, Encourage ISACA Chapter Leaders/members to achieve ISACA Chapter Awards, Strengthen and encourage Membership Growth and Retention activities to make Chapter in the Larger category (301+), promote student and young professional membership through chapter sponsored program and many more in his vision.

Md. Abul Kalam Azad said, I will publish board meeting minutes and invite general member into board meeting to establish more transparency. Moreover I will involve all members and creating equal opportunity for them to contribute to chapter activities, establishing a knowledge center in ISACA Dhaka Chapter, organizing regular CPE session and engaging in national-level policy-making activities.

Fahad Zaman Chowdhury said, if i elected, I am committed to doing the following for the benefit of the ISACA community. Organizing workshops, seminars, and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programs to support our esteemed ISACA-certified members in maintaining their professional certifications, including CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, COBIT, CSXF, and CSXP, Offering a variety of preparatory training programs at accessible fees for both members and non-members aspiring to obtain ISACA certifications, implementing strategies to enhance chapter revenue and ensure its long-term financial sustainability, emphasizing relevant stakeholders to recruit/engage IS auditors in govt./ financial/ private organization, where respective ISACA certification / similar certification should be mandatory for the progression of the profession, advocating for the development of guidelines or criteria by relevant regulatory bodies for the recruitment of CISOs, Deputy CISOs, and IS Auditors across various sectors. These guidelines should recognize the value of ISACA certifications (CISA, CISM, etc.) in the selection process, arrange quality training/workshop/seminar on IS Audit, Cybersecurity, and Emerging Technology through national/internationally recognized speakers.

No cliches, no vague or abstract ideas, these commitments are pragmatic, measurable & achievable. It doesn’t matter who I am, It matters what I can do for society with a positive impact.

Director IT Gov/COBIT Fahima Khanam said her vision is to promote IT Governance and COBIT Framework, encouraging chapter members to participate in reviews of Association standards and guidelines, to advocate for the adoption and implementation of COBIT among local organization, facilitating CPE sessions to help members earn continuing professional education credits and Liaison with ISACA Global.

G M Faruk Ahmed said, I am excited to announce that our chapter is gearing up for another year of innovation, growth, and professional excellence. Your active participation and voting are crucial in shaping the future leadership that will continue to drive our mission forward. ISACA Dhaka Chapter started its journey in 2009 by few IS Auditors. The aim of the Chapter is to support local Information Systems Auditor to develop there IS Auditing skill through seminars, workshops and regular chapter meetings. Another aim of this chapter is to help for further promoting and elevating the visibility of the IS audit, control and security profession throughout the area.

ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) is a worldwide association of IS governance professionals. The association currently focuses on assurance, security, and governance and provides globally recognized certification in assurance (Certified Information Systems Auditor) CISA, security (Certified Information Security Manager) CISM, and governance (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT) CGEIT and (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) CRISC.

This chapter is run by volunteers who are ISACA members nominated through ISACA Annual General Meeting (AGM). ISACA members’ participations in running the chapter are highly encouraged.

ISACA Dhaka chapter election will be held on 6 July 4 PM to 6.30 PM.
