Dan Hendricks will lead xAI’s team to ensure ethical practices and responsible AI development. Dan leads the AI Security Center in San Francisco.

The organization aims to warn people against the rapid advancement of AI. Recently, an open letter has also been sent by the organization to the world leaders. The existential risks associated with this technology, it says, are comparable to those of pandemics and nuclear war.

Elon Musk has long expressed concern about how dangerous AI is. He cites AI as the biggest threat to humanity’s existence. At the time he compared the rapid advancement of AI to summoning a ‘monster’.

Elon Musk founded OpenAI in 2015 in partnership with Sam Altman. At the time, he thought Google’s approach to advancing AI was too hasty and irresponsible. From there, he teamed up with Sam Altman to deliver the right message, the right product, to people with AI. He later left OpenAI in 2018 to further expand Tesla into the auto industry.

By launching xAI, Elon Musk wants to put himself at the forefront of AI development. Musk also aims to create a new way of understanding his reality to guide the AI industry.
