OpenAI’s board of directors said in a statement that Sam’s decision was made following a proper review process. He (Sam) was not communicating openly with the board of directors. Kept a distance, which was hindering his ability to manage the organization.

The board of directors lacked confidence in Sam’s ability to lead OpenAI, the statement said. Because of this he was fired. Sam was born in Missouri, USA. He studied at the world famous Stanford University. A year ago, Sam’s OpenAI became famous in the technology world after leaving ChatGPT in the market.
Sam started big competition in the tech world by launching the much talked about ChatGPT. Tech giants like Meta, Microsoft, Google and Amazon have invested billions of dollars in the development of artificial intelligence.
The company’s board of directors thanked Sam Altman for his contribution to the development of OpenAI. OpenAI’s chief technology officer (CTO) Meera Murati will serve as the organization’s CEO for an interim period, the statement said.
Microsoft, OpenAI’s main business partner, has invested a significant amount of money in the startup and has also supported it by supplying the necessary computing power for its AI systems. Microsoft stated that the transition will not have any impact on their partnership. “We have a long-term partnership with OpenAI and Microsoft remains committed to Mira and their team as we bring this next era of AI to our customers,” said an emailed Microsoft statement.
