The Cyber Security Club, representing the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP), has achieved a remarkable feat by hosting its first national-level cybersecurity competition, named “UAP Cyber Siege 2025.”

This event not only draws attention to the growing importance of cybersecurity but also signifies a substantial advancement in student-led technological initiatives across Bangladesh. The successful execution of this competition demonstrates the club’s dedication to fostering a robust cybersecurity culture and encourages aspiring tech enthusiasts to engage in this critical field. Overall, this landmark achievement reflects the university’s commitment to innovation and excellence in education.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 130 teams across 52 universities in the online preliminary round. The top 30 teams advanced to the onsite finals at UAP, where the top three teams excelled and secured their spots.

In the final offsite round, 30 teams competed for 6,520 points. “DU_Featherless_Bipeds” won 1st place with 4,320 points, followed by “Oscillating/Pandas” in 2nd with 3,640 points, and “DU_Black_Noodles” in 3rd with 3,460 points.
Infosecbulletin talked at the final event at least 10 participants to know the real picture. A Dhaka University students said,
“CTF competitions have been increasing recently, giving enthusiasts a chance to test their skills. However, there are still obstacles to participation, and more steps are needed to engage more students.”
Another one said, “we are falling behind in cybersecurity in the global digital race.” Such initiative help to identify true cyber heroes who can contribute to our nation.”
In the cyber siege, there were four sessions on various time demanding topics including “Exploiting Context over Mass Fuzzing”, “Hunting API Vulnerabilities in the Wild”, “Hack the Gap — Patch the Future”, and “Behind the Screen: Exploring Cyber Security”.
Tanvir Hassan Zoha, a prosecutor at the International Crime Tribunal, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity today. He noted that everyone should understand basic cybersecurity practices. He focused on digital forensics and demonstrated various forensic tools and techniques.
Zoha emphasized that CTF shouldn’t be your only goal. Young people should prepare to contribute to the nation, and CTF is just one step in that preparation. He advised to take preparation on a broader scale.

During the UAP Cyber Siege 2025 event, Shahadat Hossain, Principal Engineer of Enterprise Security at Grameenphone, discussed key cybersecurity issues, offering insights into real-world challenges and strategies for tackling cyber threats in Bangladesh’s digital landscape.
His session stood out for its practical relevance and clear explanations of complex topics like incident response frameworks, zero-trust architecture, and threat intelligence. Attendees appreciated his openness, expertise, and mentorship for cybersecurity carrier.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of UAP, Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, as the Chief Guest, who highlighted the growing need for cybersecurity education and the importance of nurturing skilled professionals in the field.

The competition concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony, where Architect Mahbuba Haque, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (BOT), UAP, was present as the Chief Guest. She applauded the initiative and encouraged students to continue exploring the world of cyber defense.
