Radha Krishnan S, the company’s HR executive, reported to the police that unknown hackers accessed the firm’s systems, encrypted important files, and claimed to have stolen business and customer information. “The hackers not only encrypted our database but also stole sensitive client and business data,” Krishnan stated. “They are threatening to leak the stolen information unless a ransom between $700 and $70,000 is paid.”
The threats are said to be made through Telegram by a user named @Dmc_eze and via the email address [email protected]—commonly used by cybercriminals.
Bengaluru’s North CEN division police have filed an FIR under the Information Technology Act, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pavan N. is leading the investigation.
In response to the cyber threat, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has been alerted. “CERT-In has been notified, and our cyber experts are analyzing the ransomware pattern,” a senior police officer said. “Unless the attackers voluntarily release the decryption key or we locate a backup, recovering the data remains extremely difficult.”
