GitHub has launched an AI tool called ‘Spark’ that allows users to create apps using natural language, eliminating the need for coding. This tool was introduced at the GitHub Universe Conference in San Francisco.
This tool, created by GitHub Next Labs, can quickly generate a web app from English prompts. It provides a preview of the app in seconds, and users can refine the interface through chat afterward.

GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke explains that Spark primarily focuses on building micro apps for personal use, allowing the creation of simpler applications rather than complex ones. However, he notes that Spark’s capabilities can also accommodate the development of powerful apps.
The tool allows users to select AI chatbots, such as OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Cloud Sonnet, simplifying app creation. Users can also share and manage their Spark with others.
Users with coding skills can modify Spark’s code if issues arise. CEO Dohmke explains that this feature is necessary because AI doesn’t always generate the correct code.
